October Royalty Update - 2012

Greetings and Happy October!

We are excited to share another fun event with all of you!  On Sunday, October 21st, we attended the Westby Ski Jump Snowflake Coronation.  It was a super fun night.  We began the evening with a delicious dinner and met all the other visiting Royalty from the surrounding area.  We also met the 2012 past royalty and we got our picture taken with the 2013 Royalty, they are all a fun group of girls and we enjoyed meeting them.  The 2012 outgoing royalty's farewell speeches were special and heartfelt, you could tell they were proud to represent their organization and it was fun to have the opportunity to be a part of such a nice event and we congratulate all the winners!

Thanks for letting us share our experiences with you!

2012 October's Royal Update

October Greetings to you all!

Well the 2012 Warrens Cranberry Festival was officially complete on Sunday, September 30th but our adventures have continued and we are excited to share all of them with you.

On Friday, October 5th, we all participated in our second parade of our reign.  The Tomah Homecoming Parade!  We got to wear our warm robes and proudly represented the Warrens Cranberry Festival.  It was a fun parade and we all had a great time!

On Saturday, October 6th, we attended the Public Harvest Day event at Wetherby Cranberry Company in Warrens.  It was a super fun day.  We watched as the Van Wychen family demonstrated and educated the visitors on harvest and the cranberry industry.  We then put on some hip boots and went into the cranberry bed for some great photos. From there we went to the WI Cranberry Discovery Center where we helped children make crafts, in particular the "cran man" :)  We ended the day with a trip to the Lions Log Building to see the craft show that was being held there.  It was fun to see all the beautiful things for sale and meet all the nice people.  It was a super fun day and we all had a great time!

We are excited to share with all of you the whirlwind of events that we have been fortunate enough to participate in.

We began our reign on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Coronation.  We enjoyed a wonderful meal which included cranberry ice cream :), watched as the 2011-2012 Royalty said their goodbyes and watched their fun photo slideshow and at the end of the event our names were called and we were crowned the new royalty for the 40th Festival!  What a night...filled with memories!

The next week that followed was so exciting.  On Thursday, September 27th, we were interviewed on a local TV network by the Mayor of Tomah, during the filming of the Festival's setup.  We greeted vendors as they were setting up and also picked a Queen's Choice and two Princess's Choice in the Festival's Quilt Contest.  There were a lot of entries to choose from and it was special to get to pick our favorites and there were even special ribbons awarded!  We ended the day by decorating our golf cart for the Festival weekend.  It even had a giant crown on top!!!

On Friday, September 28th, the Festival officially started!  We had a great time experiencing the day!  We looked at the contests at the Wetherby Stone Building, went to the World's Largest Cranberry Craisin(TM) Whoopie Pie Event, met the 65th Alice in Dairyland, Rochelle Ripp and Stephanie Klett, WI Secretary of Tourism, handed out the awards/prizes to the winners of the Festival's Recipe Contest, watched Mackenzie's show choir performance with the Tomah Middle School, worked at the Cranberries Jubilee-Giant Fry Pan (which ran out of ice cream before our shift was up - it was a popular event, people stood in line for a long time to sample the cranberry goodness on ice cream), and we ended the day with a visit to the WI Cranberry Discovery Center!

The next day, Saturday, September 29th, we were back again for another fun-filled busy day!  We started the day by meeting more of the vendors and welcoming them to our Festival.  We met with several special guests including, Col. Steven Nott from Fort McCoy, 2012 WI Fairest of the Fair, Richelle Kastenson and former Governor of Wisconsin, Tommy Thompson.  We participated in the Festival's first Flash Mob and danced to the Electric Slide and attended the Crantastic Singers performance, met John Downs the artist of the 40th Festival's poster and we had a photo op with the pumpkins that were especially carved just for the Festival.

The last day of the Festival, Sunday, September 30th.  We started our day with the Royalty Tea welcoming all the visiting royalty from other cities around the state of Wisconsin.  That was fun and exciting meeting everyone and sharing our experiences.  We then participated in the 2nd Festival Flash Mob and danced again to the Electric Slide.  All the visiting royalty that was at the tea were present and danced with us too!  We had a HUGE picture taken with all the visiting royalty outside of the Fire Station in Warrens and we met Kate Gorman-Miss WI, Madeline Morgan-Miss WI Outstanding Teen, Chrissy Zamora-Miss WI USA and Kate Redeker-Miss WI Teen USA.  At Noon, we rode in our very first parade, it was fun and we wore our beautiful robes on the float.  What a great festival it was, the weather was perfect and we truly enjoyed every part of it.  Especially the cheesecake on a stick!  :)
