2013-2014 Warrens Cranberry Festival - November Royalty Update

Royal Greetings to all!

We are so excited to share with you the events we have had the opportunity to take part, since we were crowned in September!

September 26, our reign officially began!  It was the day before the Festival began, but we certainly had lots to do.  First we decorated our golf cart, it was so nice and sparkly and course it had a crown on the top!  We all experienced our first television interview on the Hagen Network and we were a bit nervous at first, but it went really well and it was fun.  We stopped off at the CranJam that day, so that Queen-Miranda could sing her state award winning classical piece (Re Dentaa la clama).  That was fun to hear her sing that and the audience enjoyed themselves too!  The last thing we did before leaving for the day was to choose the Queen and Princess Choice Awards in the Quilt Contest.  That was so much fun getting to pick our own favorite and then pinning the award (pink ribbons) to each of our selections.  It was hard to choose they were all so beautiful!

September 27, the 41st Warrens Cranberry Festival officially began and it was our first official day of feeling like royalty!  We attended the Recipe Contest and handed out the prizes to all the winners.  We also met lots of new and amazing people like Miss Wisconsin-Paula Mae Kuiper and Alice in Dairyland-Kristin Olson and so many others.  It was fun spending some quality time with Miss Wisconsin.  We spent time at the Cranberries Jubilee and took turns stirring the cranberries in the giant fry pan!  We have some awesome memories like eating cheesecake on stick together and using the PA system to make an announcement to the visitors.  Miss Wisconsin thought it was so funny every time she heard the information booth make an announcement because they said “Attention Cranfesters!” each time.

September 28, we had another great day!  We tried cranberry ice cream and cranberry cream puffs and both were amazing and so tasty.  The Sweet Adeline's even sang to us and we got our picture taken with them too!  We had fun meeting some more people like Mrs. Wisconsin-Aundrea Coon, Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair-Steffani Koch, the Director of the VA-Mario DeSanctis and his wife Yvette and Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen-JamieNicole Morelan.  We attended the CranJam again and listened to the band Forever More.  When they were finished we got a chance to come on stage with them and Miranda was especially excited because she has known the lead guitarist for quite some time and he taught her to play the guitar when she was in the second grade.

September 29, our last day of the Festival and what a day it was!  We attended the Special Guest/Royalty Tea, had our picture taken with all the visiting royalty at the HUGE picture that is taken each year, participate in the Flash Mob (with all the other visiting royalty - it was like a sea of glamorous dresses all swaying to the music) and the most exciting part was riding in our first parade!  It was a beautiful day and sun was shining down as we proudly represented the
Festival and welcomed everyone to Warrens from our amazing float.  After the parade was finished we handed out the awards and took pictures with all the parade winners.  We ended the day by thanking the vendors for coming and also tried some deep fried cranberries.  They were delicious!

October 5, we attended Public Harvest Day at Wetherby Cranberry Marsh, in Warrens.  We learned lots of interesting facts about cranberries and the whole harvesting process and we put on the waders and took some super fun pictures right in the marsh with all the cranberries floating around us!  After that we went to the Lions Log Building for the St. Matthew’s Church Craft Show.  We enjoyed a delicious lunch of chicken salad and dried cranberry sandwiches  and walked around and looked at all the beautiful craft items for sale.  We then headed to the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center where we learned how to make Cranmen and bookmarks and took a tour of the museum.  It was a fun day and we really enjoyed ourselves.

October 18, we rode in our second parade this year!  The Tomah Homecoming Parade and it was so much fun.  Just being close to home and knowing so many people made it extra special.  We could hear people clapping and cheering and yelling our names as we rode on top of our beautiful float.  It was truly an exciting time!

We have been working on a fun project the past couple of weeks...decorating our float for the
upcoming holiday parades.  All of our families have been participating in this project, truly making it a family affair.  It is really going to be beautiful with all the twinkling lights and the fun theme of the holidays.  We can’t wait to unveil it and show it off!

Here is a sneak peek of what’s ahead on our schedule:  Tomah Holiday Parade, Sparta Holiday Parade, Black River Falls Holiday Parade, WI Cranberry Discovery Center Open House, Warrens Community Christmas Party and Holiday Visit to the State Capitol.

  1. The Cranberry Festival sounds like it was a huge success. The photos show how much everyone enjoyed the festivities. Plus, the princesses and the queen look like they really enjoyed driving around their royal golf cart. I'm hoping that this year's festival will turn out as well as that one. All the best to you guys! :)
