On Friday August 7 th, I was invited to the Wisconsin Valley Fair to give a cranberry presentation. It was a lovely day as my mom and I traveled to Wausau, Wisconsin to attend the fair. My presentation was at noon in the Ag Adventure Tent and was very educational as I shared my cranberry knowledge of growing, harvesting, history, health benefits, products and more. I also demonstrated how to make cranberry butter and afterwards everyone was able to taste test with crackers. Then it was time to indulge in some fair food as mom and I savored a delicious Wisconsin baked potato. After our tummies were satisfied, we enjoyed walking through the exhibits and talking with many people.
Back at the Ag Adventure Tent, I was in the Butter Carving Contest. Of course, I carved cranberries and even had some cranberry vines with me to add to my masterpiece. It was a lot of fun! I met Katie Wirkus, the 2009 Wisconsin Valley Fairest of the Fair, and I learned more about the fair and her job as fairest. Thank you Wisconsin Valley Fair for the crantastic memories!
